College education system in India
Education is an organic thing, it keeps evolving and growing with human mind and time. This is also one of the major reasons as to why education that is provided in various nations is different than what is provided in India. In fact every nation has its own system of colleges as well as schools, each diverse and unique in its own manner principles over which the systems of education are formed differ but aim is completely similar. It has always been instilling creativity within the minds of humans.
Throwing light on the Indian
college system : Every
system has its own share of cons and pros. As a nation that is developing, the
system of Indian education has developed on the support pillars through the
theoretical knowledge, preparing the students for world’s toughest competitive
exams. Education
systems in other nations have a more flexible approach that allow students for
pursuing career opportunities that are varied compared to mainstream options. Since
the country is a developing one, thus there is need for gathering funds and
using them for enhancing the system of education. The tertiary education or college
system : The
higher system of education scene in India is centralized highly and has also
undergone large changes since the inception of it in the year 1947. It is based
largely on the British system and the policy of education is developing all the
time. The education in the universities is always overseen by the UGC or
Commission of University Grants. This
commission is responsible for recognizing the Indian institutions, allocation
of funds and developing of the higher education. NAAC got established by UGC
for assessing universities. NAAC stands for national council of assessment and
accreditation. Colleges are ranked from A to C based on the alphabetical system
of ranking. Here are a few characteristics. Switching options As per
the Indian college system students can never switch the major subjects in the
midst of courses. If one is a student of physics major then they cannot opt for
other varied subjects like Economics or language in the midst of the course. The education approach and
initiatives of research : The
Indian curriculum for educational institutes majorly focuses on theoretical
education and also relies on research that was conducted in past. Despite
continuous help that is offered by government, the funds of research are
limited therefore the initiatives of research are less as well. Curriculum and exposure : The
modifications in the current educational system are based on research that is approved
and latest. Implementation of research studies is quite late in Indian
universities curriculum but students in India are offered wide specializations
and courses that students can choose from. Besides all the core fields of
management, medical and engineering, excellent options like Design, nautical
science, anesthesiology, geology, bachelors in food science, microbiology and
aviation, are offered. Admissions : The
colleges are affiliated and admission to any undergraduate course requires you
to complete high school so that you can seek admissions in the university.
After undergraduates are over, you can seek admissions for postgraduate courses
on the basis of your scores in bachelor’s. Diploma programs are for three to
two years duration and professional degrees in architecture, engineering and
law are for five and half to four years.
