How To Get Admitted In The Law Course


The candidates who have a vision to establish something extraordinary and quite different from their peers can always make a mark in the field of law. But for the correct development of the goals, the candidates need to be aware of the preparation that they need to undergo in order to clear the toughest entrance tests with flying colours. The admission to the college of their choice can be done with proper preparation done well in advance. Here is a list of examinations along their preparatory outline for the candidates looking for a future in law.





List of Examinations to enroll in the course

There are a number of Law Colleges in India which offer excellent education and help in shaping the future career of the individual. The candidates need to follow a list of both state level and national level entrance tests and prepare for the same:

CLAT: CLAT is the Common Law Admission Test conducted by the National Law Universities or NLU’s. There are 18 National Law Colleges in India which offer both under graduate and post graduate Law Courses in India.


LSAT: LSAT is the Law School Admission Test conducted nationally, the scores of which are accepted by all the leading law schools in India. It is conducted four times in a year for both the under graduate and post graduate admissions. The test consists of papers on reading and verbal reasoning.

AILET: The All India Law Entrance Test is conducted by the National Law University of Delhi for its exclusive admission to the under graduate, post graduate and doctoral studies.

AIL Entrance Test : The Army Institute of Law in Mohali Punjab conducts its admission test for the integrated under graduate and post graduate course.

BHU UET: Benaras Hindu University conducts an admission test for under graduate course in Law along with other streams.

These were the top entrance examinations that the candidates aspiring to study Law after passing the higher secondary examination should look forward to.

Common Eligibility Criteria

There is a set of eligibility criteria that is followed by every admission examination.


  1. Candidates must have passed the higher secondary examination or the equivalent examination in the respective boards.
  2. Some of the examinations require the candidates to have secured at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  3. The candidates who are appearing for their higher secondary examination can also apply. However, the final admission will be confirmed after the submission of their verified mark sheet and certificate.
  4. Some of the examinations have an upper age limit which the candidates need to fulfill. The candidates need to be below the age of 20 years at the time of application.

Common Preparatory Topics
All the Law Entrance Tests have certain common topics of study for their papers. The candidates should prepare well in analytical reasoning, logical reasoning along with reading comprehension. A good knowledge of English will be beneficial to pass the tests successfully.

The candidates are advised to take a note of deadlines of applications and syllabus and prepare well in advance to get admission to the college of their choice.
